Papercuts Bookshop
Join us for an exciting in-store conversation with Julian Zabalbeascoa — author of the book What We Tried to Bury Grows Here — and Bill Pierce from AGNI.
The book is a historical fiction set during the Spanish Civil War, told through interconnected vignettes from various perspectives, including soldiers and civilians, exploring the personal and collective horrors of the conflict and its lasting impact on family and culture.

A free Symposium hosted by the Salem State University History Department in partnership with the Marblehead Museum that will explore facets of New England’s once-deep trading ties to Bilbao and other Iberian ports, including the business connections that helped open the door for critical Spanish Crown support for the American Revolution.
A VIP reception to follow at the Marblehead Arts Association’s King Hooper Mansion, with some spots reserved on a first-come first-served basis for New England Club members (suggested donation $25). To register to the reception, email bilbaobound@gmail.com.

Markina-Xemein Court
A tribute was held at Bizkaia’s Markina-Xemein court to honor Jai Alai pelotaris and their families, recognizing both their athletic achievements and their role as ambassadors of the Basque Country around the world (article in Spanish).
